Configuring CDex 1.50 for optimal performance/sound quality: First: -Download the latest LAMEenc and install/extract it inside ur main CDex folder. http://www.sulaco.org/mp3/ Next: -Proceed inside the "options>settings" menu inside CDex Then: -Under the Generic Tab: make sure that the enable box under "Normalize Volume" is disabled. -CD Drive Tab: CD-Speed: Select the appropriate/max speed that ur cd-rom supports. If ur experiencing stuttering probs even if ur source disc is not damaged ... try lowering the speed to 24 or lower if neccesary. Spin-Up Time: Give this setting a value of at least 2 (or 3) to help prevent skips at the start of a mp3 file. CD-ROM Type: I recommend that u leave this at its default setting (generic). But if ur having problems with the 'generic' setting then choose the brand of ur cd-rom drive on the list. Ripping Method: Leave it at 'standard' Swap Left-Right Channel: Disabled! Lock CD During Extraction: Enable to prevent accidental ejecting of cd/s while ripping. Enable Jitter Correction: Enable to help prevent experiencing jitters on scratched discs. Encoder Tab: Thread Priority: Set to 'highest' for faster encoding. Set it to normal if u would like to do other tasks while encoding. Convert to Riff WAV Files: Disabled Encoder: Select LAME Encoder Options/Version: Select MPEG1 Bitrate Min/Max: (read my recommended settings inside my site) Mode: Joint Stereo Quality: Select 'Very High Quality (q=0)' VBR Method/ABR: (read my recommended settings inside my site) VBR Quality: 0 (zero) Output SampleRate: Regular Audio CD's only have an output of 41000hz. I'm not 100% sure if SCDA (super audio-cd) and/or Enhanced CD's supports 48khz output 'coz its not yet widely available here in our country. But if it does ... then u must select 48000 so as not to lose audio quality. *** After the encoding process ... take a look at the "status" section. If the status states that the encoding process is "ok" ... then everything is fine. Otherwise, something went wrong ... and there's a possibility that the produced file contains jitter errors. Re-encoding, cleaning the source disc, lowering the read speed, and/or increasing the "number of retries" setting inside options>cd drive tab might fix the problem.
